Base Metal Projects

The company is advancing 3 base-metal projects. They are located in the Pyhäsalmi mining district, forming part of the renowned Vihanti-Pyhäsalmi VMS belt.

This belt corresponds to an island arc in Proterozoic times with numerous sites of volcanogenic massive sulphide mineralization.

To date, 7 economic VMS deposits have been discovered in the Vihanti-Pyhäsalmi belt, from which 115Mt of copper and zinc ore has been mined and processed. Altered and mineralized volcanics are widespread as shown by  the Geological Survey and Outokumpu during their searches from 1950 to 1990.

Residual exploration potential for several economic deposits is believed to be high, as no systematic follow-up studies have been done over the past 20 years.
