Gold project
The Yli-Ii gold project covers the southern extension of the gold-bearing Oijärvi greenstone belt over a distance of 30km.
Mineral rights to the area are secured via the Yli-Ii Reservation with a surface extend of 332,4km2 granted to Akkerman Finland Oy in March 2021 ( VA2021:0019).
Gold mineralization in this belt is known to be related to a major shear zone in north-south direction. Most significant discovery to date is the Kylmäkangas gold deposit, located north of the Yli-Ii Reservation, with an inferred resource of 1,9 Mt @ 4g/t Au and 31 g/t Ag.
The southern extension of the shear zone into the Yli-Ii area was explored for the first time by the Geological Survey of Finland between 2001 and 2014. Initial studies revealed anomalous gold in till over intensely sheared and altered rocks. Limited drilling at one of the prospects (Kupsusselkä) returned a.o. up to 3 g/t Au over 2meters, with elevated Cu, Sb and As. Given the promising results obtained, the Yli-Ii area is clearly underexplored, justifying a larger-scale systematic exploration program.
